When I hold seminars at my home, I usually provide ‘homemade snacks and refreshments’. Preparing food and drink is also one of my pleasures. However, at the day before yesterday, I concentrated on preparing documents and ordered delivaries for the sweets and snacks. I have written many times about how food delivery services in India improved dramatically during the pandemic. Nowadays, it is remarkably convenient.
Even in this area of North Bangalore, you can order from some of the small, trendy shops there. Yesterday I ordered cheesecake, chocolate cake and cookies from SMOOR. The cheesecake always has crumbled cream on top, so I arrange it later with fruit toppings.
Then biscuits and chips from ANAND Sweets, a popular Indian confectionery brand in Bangalore. These are stylishly (and partly excessively) packaged and taste deliciously different from other brands. It is apparent that the younger generation is renewing the brand image.
While setting the table and preparing tea and coffee, I was reminiscing about the past.
Eight years from 2012 until we went into lockdown. That every Friday, I invited a dozen or more, often nearly 40 members, to my home every week. On Thursday nights, I used to make Japanese sponge cakes, Swiss rolls, Fruits tarts and shortbread etc, and that was just about every week, a huge amount of pastries.
What was all that enthusiasm? Even though I enjoyed it, even though I liked doing it, I don’t know how I managed to keep it going. With an impulse that, despite myself, I don’t really understand. Anyway, I am deeply reminded of the invaluable experiences I have had with the members of Muse Creation over the past eight years.
Sunflowers and lilies decorate and add colour to every part of the house. I arranged the sunflowers like Van Gogh’s sunflowers. Stems of sunflowers are as vigorous and strong as fresh vegetables. Someday, I will plant sunflowers in my garden.
